FEB 25 2011 to FEB 27 2011	Make it Exhibition in Farnborough Venue: FIVE, Gate F, Aerospace Boulevard, Farnborough, GU14 6XA Ann Day will be collecting the names of those who are willing to help on The Lace Guild stand at the exhibition. It is always interesting, talking to the visitors, showing them how lace is made and you get a chance to go round the exhibition for free. You just need to be a member of The Lace Guild and enthusiastic about lace and lacemaking. You do not have to be a superb or very experienced lacemaker, just capable of showing someone how cloth stitch is made. Ann would also like to borrow lace for the stand. Either things you have made this year or earlier. All levels of expertise are welcome as it is good to show people what can be done by beginners as well as more experienced lacemakers. JUN 26 2010 to JUN 27 2010	Celebrating Surrey Venue: Loseley House Taking place on the 26th and 27th of June at Loseley House, we are planning to make a lace 'pod' at this event and would be grateful for the loan of: a small 'pop-up' tent a Gazebo with sides (preferably of the 'instant' variety, rather than slot together poles) Some members had a go at the 'pod' lace at the AGM, and there was a lot of excitement about the project! Liberty also has a collection of new limited-edition quilting fabrics by Liberty Arts. They are slightly heavier than usual (£11.50 per metre from Liberty's and V&A).

Sunday 10am - 4.30pm (wheelchair access from 9.30am each day) This year Make It will be on 26th-28th February at Farnborough. We will be running a stand on behalf of The Lace Guild. If you would like to help please contact Ann Day. You may not make much lace but you will have the opportunity to talk to lots of lovely crafts people and get to see the exhibition, which is aimed at card makers and scrap bookers but with other stands as well.

JAN 22 2010 to JAN 24 2010	Stitch & Creative Crafts Venue: Sandown Park Exhibition Centre, Esher, Surrey £7.50 or concession £6.50 The Sandown Park Exhibition Centre hosts the Stitch & Creative Crafts Show - South East. For those with a flair for creativity this is the perfect occasion to discover everything affiliated with the world of knitting, needlecraft and creative designs.
JAN 14 2010	NDL Meeting - Make Lace Venue: Morgan Centre, Crowthorne, 8 p.m. - 10 p.m. This mini workshop will be making rice dumplings (not food but an ornament to hang or earrings). These are 3-D triangles and about 2 inches (2.5cms). Sue Martin will bring something to the meeting to show. If people want to do a lace one they will need a pillow and bobbins but you can also weave them. If you wish to do the mini workshop at the January meeting please bring scissors (paper cutting) ordinary sellotape and double sided sellotape (You will need both sorts of tape) thin card (cornflake packets will do but no thicker) knitting ribbon or narrow ribbon or wool to wind onto shape about 4/5 metres required PVA glue Cocktail or kebab stick for glue beads or anything else you want to decorate your shape plus long needle and thread to sew them on with thread to make hanging loop Sue Martin will bring a supply of things so do not buy specially but it would be helpful if people could bring anything they have. A £1 contribution towards the cost would be appreciated. Don't forget that Sarah Jones' bobbins will be on sale at the January meeting, an ideal opportunity to add to your collection.

9th August 2007	Make Lace or Paint Pottery	Many members had a great time decorating their pieces. Some lovely designs were observed and the fired results are awaited with interest.
12th July 2007	Royal School of Needlework - Training of Professional Embroiderers	Eva Hanson stepped into the breach as Elizabeth Elvin had been forced to retire for family reasons. The talk was very interesting, giving an insight to the levels of expertise expected of RSN needlewomen with beautiful illustrations of the work produced.
14th June 2007	Survival of the Heritage	Mary Simmons. An interesting short talk on her collection followed by the opportunity to view and handle many of her samples. Despite the large number of pieces on display I gather there is even more in her collection.
10th May 2007	Dressing the Baby	Gwynedd Roberts. A very amusing look at baby clothes through the centuries from swaddling bands to beautiful lace caps. Plenty of pictures of babies and small children and some lovely examples of baby gowns and bonnets.

8th March 2007	The Hatter from Herriard	Barbara Jeremiah. An interesting talk covering her history and methods of hat making, followed by some slides of her products. There were also some very interesting examples of various hats, bags and other examples of straw work.
